A very popular topic
when it comes to replacing the original exhaust system with a lighter one or using carbon fibre parts.
Very often you read that before spending 400 bugs on an exhaust to save 2-3kg of weight it would be wiser to do this with your own body weight.
Of course this is free and also helpful, but not everyone is able to do this. If I weigh 100kg at 1,90m then that is already within the range of a healthy normal weight, if I am only 1,70m and weigh 100kg then a few kilos less could most likely be tolerated.
Off with the heavy parts
From my racing the 125´s, I can only say one thing. Nothing was as maneuverable, agile and handy as the 70kg Honda.
Even the most inexperienced motorcyclist
can feel the difference between a full tank and an almost empty one. And so it is with the weight reduction on the motorbike. Actually, it can't be light enough. Less weight always makes you feel better.
Riding dynamics
of the motorbike are simply better regardless of whether you weigh 60kg or 120kg. The difference in the vehicle can be felt by everyone. If you lose a few extra kilos yourself the result is a dream combination and pure riding pleasure. It is also very helpful to put the moped back on tires after a fall of.
One exception is perhaps a very gusty crosswind in which case a heavier machine can be advantageous.
