MOTOCROSS GEN

The frame
is a so-called double-loop perimeter steel tube frame made of high-tensile steel. The 250 so far painted in silver, black and green - the 300 only in silver and black.

Such a frame design
Kawasaki used until the end of their 2-stroke dirtbikes. Steel frames are said to be inferior to aluminium frames in terms of performance and are only used for mass-produced models. However, this is contradicted by the fact that some manufacturers use steel frames exclusively and are quite successful with them.

Advantages of a steel frame
are in my opinion above all in being able to make repairs more easily, whether it is to weld carrier plates back on or also to repair any cracks. With aluminium is not quite so simple because among other things a TIG welding unit is needed, which in turn is much more difficult to find should you just be on the big trip.

Subframe is welded
to the main frame which is a bit annoying as it is neither available as a spare part nor can it be easily replaced. Here it's probably actually a cost issue in manufacturing.

Frame geometry
on the Dualsport and the Supermoto version is identical, differences in the overall geometry result only from the different suspension travel. Even the Kawasaki KLX 300 R which is available since 2020 has the same main frame, only the subframe has been designed differently and some mounts for the attachments have been changed or omitted.
