What do we mean by vehicle electrics?
Starting with the alternator, voltage limiter and rectifiers, the battery, the wiring harness, various relays and fuses, the lights and indicators, the speedometer, or even the ECU are listed here. The sensors responsible for the engine control, the switches on the handlebars and the brakes also belong in this category. And of course the ignition lock, ignition coil, spark plug and radiator fan.

The alternator
is the power plant for the electrical system. No alternator, no electrical system. The higher the engine speed, the more energy the alternator can produce and is therefore at the beginning of the "electrical chain".

The voltage limiter/rectifier
limits the voltage (energy) coming from the alternator which is needed for the electrical system of the motorcycle and is about 14-15V. The rectifier converts the energy coming from the voltage limiter into a form of energy needed for the consumers. In the case of the KLX, the form of energy is DC.

Consumers
are all parts that require energy. These include the lights and indicators, speedometer, cooling fan, ECU, DFI and the fuel pump as well as the starter, horn and ignition coil/spark plug. The consumers in turn are grouped into different units also called circuits.

As an example
I will take the starter motor circuit which consists of the following main components. Starter motor, starter relay including fuse, ignition lock, start button, ECU, wiring harness.

Helpers
are then the rest of the electrical system, so that the consumers can also function and do what they are intended for. Wiring harness, various relays, fuses and sensors, but also all the switches. The helpers themselves consume little or no energy.

Getting a better frontlight beam
The headlight need to be adjusted, if you ride with a pillion or a lot of cargo. Another option which is not too expensive yet is to use a LED bulb instead of the old conventional one.

Still not satisfied
then install additional lighting. This requires a little electrical knowledge to be able to carry out the installation without any problems. There is a wide range of auxiliary light available on the aftermarket. Of course, the workshop can also install the additional lighting if you cannot do it yourself or do not have the time.

Need of more electric power
the alternator needs to get stronger. If it has more power, more consumers can be connected and used at the same time. However, since I don't know of a stronger stator (part of the alternator) for the KLX you can only go to a specialist and have the stator reworked. This means that he rewinds the coils on the stator and does it differently, which allows the alternator to produce more power. However, this also requires a different stronger regulator and battery.
